Climbing the Mast
After our first night out, we realized that the boat’s steaming light (located high on the mast) burned out. The steaming light is particularly important because it is oftentimes the only navigation light that can be seen over large ocean swells and at a distance due to the curvature of the Earth. Thus, John shimmied up the mast in a bosun’s chair to fix it. Keep in mind that the boat doesn’t just stop to perform these activities!
