Driving the Provinces of Panama
As I’ve mentioned, our on-the-road tour of the Panamanian provinces was quite an experience! Our time in Costa Rica and Panama City revolved around actual destinations and tourist attractions. However, the province tour was a real taste of central America! One major observation … religious fanaticism of all forms is everywhere! In a one day period in extremely remote areas, we ran into a huge Muslim mosque (not fanatical but a strange sight in Central America), a hillside shrine dedicated to Jesus (the man of miracles) made of painted stones, and a St. John themed restaurant complete with prayer garden and monument (and semi-decent food).
